The name “Cinabrio” was inspired by the color red, which was crafted by the ancient Maya using the mineral Cinabrio (cinnabar). Red was the symbol of Kinich Ahau, the Mayan god of the sun.
In the heart of every bottle of Cihuatán Cinabrio lies the Sleeping Woman, Mayan goddess and guardian of the Cihuatán valley. Legend has it that the Sleeping Woman would intercede on behalf of the people of Cihuatán so that Kinich Ahau would energize the valley with his warmth. His symbols were two hummingbirds.
